Juxtaposing Divorce and Estate Planning

The presentation explores the issues faced by Estate Planning Lawyers when dealing with clients who are in the midst of or have recently become divorced.  It also exposes the misconceptions that some Family lawyers may have regarding the effects Pre and Post Nuptial agreements as well as Marital Settlements may have on the estate planning process.

Seth A. Marmor is a shareholder in the law firm of Shapiro, Blasi, Wasserman & Gora, P.A., located in Boca Raton and is admitted to practice law in the states of Florida and New York.  He is one of only nine lawyers in the State of Florida who is Board Certified in both Wills, Trusts and Estates and in Elder Law.  Seth received his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law, Cum Laude and graduated New York University School of Law with an LL.M. in Taxation.  He is a past-President of the South Palm Beach County Bar Association and is a past President of the Greater Boca Raton Estate Planning Council.  Seth is currently the Vice-Chair of the Guardianship and Advanced Directives Committee for the Florida Bar’s Real Property, Probate Trust Law Section and is Chair of the Elder Law Committee for the South Palm Beach County Bar Association   Seth is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell and he was selected as a Florida Super Lawyer in Super Lawyer Magazine in 2006 through and including 2013. He is a member of the Florida Bar Speaker’s Bureau and is a frequent lecturer on estate planning and elder law.

Eric Virgil is a member of The Florida Bar and the North Carolina State Bar. He chairs both the Probate and Guardianship Committee of the Dade County Bar Association and the Digital Assets and Information Committee of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of the Florida Bar. Eric is an active member of the Probate and Trust Litigation Committee, Probate Law and Procedure Committee, and Guardianship Law and Advance Directives Committee of the Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law Section of The Florida Bar.  He is a member of the Probate Rules Committee of The Florida Bar. Eric is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating a lawyer can attain from that nationally-known directory. He graduated with honors from both the University of Miami and from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Law.  He has lectured before many professional groups on trust, estate, and guardianship administration, trust, estate and guardianship litigation, and related topics. Eric’s firm is located in Coral Gables, Florida.
