Legal Ethics and Technology for the Trust & Estate Lawyer:

Conflicts of Interest, Digital Assets, Artificial Intelligence,and Bitcoin

Lecturer in Law, Associate Director of the Center for Ethics & Public Service, and Director of the Professional Responsibility & Ethics Program (PREP), University of Miami’s School of Law

This interactive program will explore some of the legal ethics challenges that confront estate planning lawyers. Topics to be explored include representing clients with diminished capacity, conflicts of interest, digital assets, bitcoin, and the use of artificial intelligence in the practice of law.

Estate and Income Tax Legislation Update

Presented by:  Ruben Quintana, CPA, MBAF

 The presentation will cover the “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” that was introduced on November 2, 2017, focusing on those provisions that impact high net worth individuals, including the proposed repeal of the “death tax.” Given that this bill is not yet law, Ruben will be making a few assumptions in order to present some planning ideas taking into account the proposed tax reform bill.

The guest fee for this meeting is $65. You may prepay by credit card or you may pay by credit card or check at the door (make your check payable to the Estate Planning Council). As a guest, if you decide to become a member of our organization within 45 days of this meeting, the $65 will be credited toward the fee for any membership. Membership dues include the cost of all dinners.
